Even the most careful traveler can have his or her credit card swiped. And having been in that situation, I know that the only thing worse than the panic of being robbed is the panic of not being able to do a thing about it.

Lose your credit card? Try to cancel it. Go ahead. The contact info for canceling it is… on the card.

So, before you take off, flip your card over and jot down the customer service phone number. If you’re separated from your plastic, you’ll be able to cancel it quickly. Oh, and note that there is usually a separate number for those calling from out of the US.
