travel tip: travel-friendly skivvies

17 countries. 6 weeks. And one pair of underwear.

ExOfficio Fast Drying UnderwearThat’s what it says on the package, anyway. And what’s inside is a pair of fast-drying, lightweight underwear - wash ‘em out at night, wear ‘em again the next day. They’re comfortable, save a bunch of room in your pack, and actually, are a whole lot sexier than you’d expect. I’m already a big fan of the pair I bought from ExOfficio (they make sports bras, too!), but other brands are easy to find with a little googling.

  1. Do not I repeat DO NOT dry your underpants in a microwave while travelling. I tried this in a hostel in Prague and the elastic melted.

  2. Disposable underwear! I bought a pack of 6 for 2 bucks. Cheap, convenient, comfortable, and saves you from the public embarassment of drying your underwear on furniture.

  3. Um…don’t you want a second pair, just in case? If I were, as a poor traveller, sleeping in a hostel, I think i’d want to be wearing underwear as well as drying some. Safety in numbers, I say.

  4. I’m thinking Emily has it right on the nose — I don’t even sleep sans skivs in my own (clean!) bed. But I AM LOLing at Jess’s comment!
