imagination vacation

It’s raining in Dallas. It does that a lot, I’ve discovered. For every sunny day, we get three or four that drain you of the will to live. Know what I do when I should be going out for my lunch-time walk? I plan imaginary get-aways

Brazil is top on my imagination vacation list, because I am so open to suggestion and just reading the word, “Brazil” got me thinking that it MUST be the most glorious place in the world. On my trip to Brazil, I will spend all my imaginary time:

Hammocking. My favorite sport.
Horseback riding on the beach.
Scuba Diving. Have I ever before? No, but this is my imagination and I can do anything I want. And in that vein… what about cliff diving?

My lunch is almost over, but I’m having a hard time closing the window of photos.

Where do you take your imagination vacations?

  1. Wow! It rained today? Yes, I’m in Dallas too, but I rarely see the light of day. That is what cubicles do to you… trap you, suck you in to a cubicle hell.

  2. OMG! You must think I’m a complete ditz, but I accidently hit submit on my last comment. I did not want to send that. I typically just write what comes to my mind then go back and edit my thoughts. After reading it, I definitely would not have sent that. It sounds so morbid! I was going to describe my current dream vacation because, typically, I have many, but I had slippery fingers. Yikes! I aplogize. You must think I’m a crazy person. On a lighter note, I do enjoy your blog. I found your first blog, “This Fish Needs a Bicycle” and read your entries for awhile. Your entry, “He said things” was a great read. Guys can be so shady, but thankfully she could take the other train and not look back.

  3. That’s easy. Bora Bora. Huts on blue water - need I say more?

Damnit. Now you’ve got me thinking about it again.

  4. It used to be Italy, but I just finally went there for the first time, so I guess I will have to think of someplace new. Ah… who am I kidding? It’ll still probably be Italy. With a Thailand rising.

  5. Alaska, heli-skiing.

    Indo, chartered boat, surfing.

  6. Infinity pools in Tahiti. Safari in Africa. Mediterranean cruise. Ogling cute boys in Australia. Actually, I plan to do that last when I’m done school.

@Cassie, I don’t think you’re morbid or ditzy. You’re totally right about cubicle hell. Sunlight comes at a price in my office. You have to sell your soul to get access to a window.

  7. Aw. Egypt. Hands down. If I had all the money and time in the world, I would do it old school style; hire a dahabeyah (its like a boat), deck it out and fill it with all the old tour guides from the 1800 and 1900s and lounge my way up and down the Nile, visiting all the obscure archaeological sites to my heart’s content.

By the way, I love your other blog! I have read it for ages and adore your outlook on life. You always seem to make the best out of your situations, and you’re definitely an inspiration.

  8. I take mine to sunny Isle getaways where I am magically thin when I walk off the plane and none of the men are gross and they all think I’m fabulous.

  9. Laura, are you a fan of Amelia Peabody Emerson? If not, go find Elizabeth Peters’ Crocodile on the Sandbank. You might really like it.

  10. Oh my! I love those books, Amelia Peabody is my favorite heroine!! (Second only to Lara Croft, Tomb Raider (I know, I am a super-cool person))

And Elizabeth Peters is such a talented writer.

I have definitely modeled my vacation after her example.

    Thanks for the recommendation, though!

  11. I just NOW realized I was on your blogroll and I sort of feel like celebrating, since you are my number one favorite blogger. ever. So, thank you for the honor of the add :) I feel like I should pour myself a glass of wine or something.

As for imagination vacations….I once spent an entire weekend at Barnes and Noble creating an “itinerary” for this trip “I was taking” It inclulded all of Europe, the best attractions, best rrestaurants, hotels etc. I typed. scheduled down to the down and printed out this HUGE itinerary, just in case. Though there are no REAL PLANS, I have a full planned trip, ready for the day that someone calls me up and is willing to fund it.

    I’m all baout preperation.
Greece sounds especialy lovely right now because I’m in dire need of a tan.
